Yoga Nidra (or conscious sleep) is a systematic method of inducing complete physical, mental and emotional relaxation, which far surpasses that of collapsing in a chair with a nice cup of tea!
Yoga nidra refers to the conscious awareness of the deep sleep state, referred to as “prajna” in Mandukya Upanishad.
By inducing a deep sense of relaxation our receptivity increases. In this space we can develop our memory, become more creative and most importantly we have the potential to transform our lives……
Yoga Nidra brings an incredible calmness, quietness and clarity and is one of the deepest of all meditations, leading awareness through many levels of mental process to a state of supreme stillness and insight.
How do we Transform?
We use Sankalpa – which is a resolve or resolution to let go of that which does not serve us or is holding us back from our full potential. Sankalpa is a potent seed which is planted in the mind at the beginning of the practice. If we prepare the mind though the practice of Yoga Nidra and sow this seed of positive affirmation well then it will grow in our lives and become a powerful directive that provokes change.
The Benefits of Yoga Nidra
Each of us has the power to remould conditioned habit patterns through the practice of Yoga Nidra. We become more balanced, happy and fulfilled. As the mind and body learns to relax fully we live not from a space constrained tension but from a space of freedom, truth and intuitive spontaneity.
